Well we made it to August!
August 1
We all decided to go to the Tillamok Factory. It was a lot of fun. We had lunch there. I got a grilled cheese sandwich with some tomato basil soup. It was good. Of course after lunch we had to get some of their ice cream! What a fun trip with cousins. In the car is Vinny, Aiden and Shailee.
We also went to a lighthouse. It was cold and windy but really pretty!
Those rocks were the rocks from the Goonies.
August 2
Some of the family went on a hike while others waited on the beach. Shailee and Wes went while Aiden and my pregnant body went to play on the beach.
Some big trees out there!
On the beach we spotted a star fish!
Aiden playing with the sand and Grandma!
The tide pools were so fun, but that water is cold!
A sea urchin!
Shailee holding the star fish...
Aiden's turn!
Later that evening we had family pictures taken on the beach. Here are some from my cell phone. Our pictures from that will be in a seperate post.
We flew kites on the beach, it was so fun!
I love this man of mine!
Still going strong as the sun sets.
Claire and Aiden loved playing with Grandma.
Back in the hotel, most of the kids were sharing Grandma's phone and watching something on it together!
What a pretty sunset with my family!
August 3
We did some exploring around the hotel and this was in the bottom of our hotel (where you go sign up for a sales pitch to get timeshare). So fun and cool to see sharks and get a picture taken that looks like the shark ate you!
Playing on the beach again later that night. It was so nice and convenient to our hotel right on the beach. As you can imagine, we spent lots of time there too as well as the pool.
Getting themselves buried by Uncle Wes.
Can you spot them? Wade, Vinny and Shailee.
August 4
We went to lunch at a local restaurant and took a little walk to it. We got fish and chips and enjoyed everyone's company.
August 5
We packed up and headed home this day. On the way out we stopped at Multnomah Falls. It was so pretty! We walked up to that bridge and looked down. This place was so crowded. We barely got a parking spot. We later found out that they had closed parking shortly after we got there and the rest of the family didn't get to stop and see it. They just had to look from the road. We felt pretty lucky, but bad that they didn't get to see it too.
Aiden has been in a face pulling phase, but it's cute!
On the way home we stopped at the Malad Gorge state park to get out and stretch. Here's the gorge.
August 17
Woke up and as I was getting my breakfast, I saw this. Tiger had made himself comfortable in the kids tunnel that is all wrapped up. Silly kitty.
After having lunch with Wes we went to the zoo. It's still really warm here in Utah.
I felt like doing what this lion was doing.
Carousel rides for days for these two!
Later on that evening we went to the local fair. They had a little circus and a camel.
August 18
We decided to come up to Idaho for the weekend and of course we have to have bike rides from Papa!
Such a big boy!
August 19
While we were in Idaho, we had Aiden's birthday party! We did a Cars Theme party for him. I can't believe he is 3 years old! These are Lightning's Hot Rods, or Hot Dogs.
Mack's Mac-N-Cheese
Sally's Cozy Cones...Bugles.
Mater's Taters...Potato Chips
Motor Oil...Root Beer and Anitfreeze...green koolaid
The birthday cake!
So happy!
Blowing out the candles...with mom's help of course!
Opening presents.
It was still hot when the party was over, so we got the slip and slide out for the kids. They had a blast.
I'd say we had a successful birthday party for this guy. He came in from swimming and crashed.
August 21
Just pulling some goofy faces with dad.
There was a total solar eclipse this weekend and Rexburg was a prime spot to be for it. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had. Of course we had to have special glasses to look at the sun before totality. We put them on a paper plate for the kids so they could keep them on better.
I don't know why my camera took the picture like this, but this is totality. It was dark, like night time dark for a few minutes. Even the temperature changed and it got chilly.
This is picture someone took that sent it to me. But I can't remember who, but this it how dark it was.
The progression of the solar eclipse.
Birthday presents and who they are from.
August 23
Shailee's first day of kindergarten. She is so excited!!
August 24
Standing outside her classroom next to her name on the board.
She's a kindergartner now!
August 25
Wes had a softball game and Aiden decided to play on the other field so he could run around too!
August 26
He's just so darn cute! I found him like this when I went to wake him up.
August 31
We went to City Creek Mall in Salt City for lunch and then stayed there until Wes got off work. Aiden loved playing on these dinosaur toys.
Every once in a while when we got to City Creek, we see these two cars. Their licence plates read "Mustard" and "Catchup"!
