I have come to the realization that I am just not that great at keeping this blog up to date as well as it should, and therefore it results in several updates haha. But I guess some is better than none. I didn't take any pictures of new year's eve, but it was just Wes and I. Shailee got to stay up an hour past her bedtime, and amazingly enough we stayed up till midnight!
On January 4th, Shailee and Wes were rough housing. I leave the rough housing up to Wes haha...I'm too soft to be "rough". Anyway, he tossed her in a chair that is in front of our clavinova. No big deal, normally. This particular time, he tossed her a little higher than normal and her head hit the corner of the clavinova. Below are the results of what happened.
Being a mom, and not liking my baby to be hurt, I freaked out just a little, ok a lot. I had no idea head wounds, even small, could bleed so much. I wanted to take Shailee to UrgentCare to make sure she didn't need stitches. Wes reluctantly agreed to it. When we got there, we found out that they don't take our insurance and wanted to charge us $200+ just to examine her. After some discussion, we decided that we would just go to K-mart and buy some butterfly bandages, take her back home and clean it up on our own.
On the way out, a gentleman came out and talked to us about Shailee's injury. He even offered to pay for her care, (he thought that was the reason we decided against having her seen, because we couldn't afford it). We told him no thankyou, but thanks for your kindness and concern. Just shows that there are good people out there willing to help out their fellow man.
We think it looks like those cartoon bandages haha. In the end, it wasn't that bad and within a week it had scabbed over and was all better!
On a family outing one day, she spotted Tigger and wanted to go play with him. We were in no hurry so we decided to let her sit and play for a little bit.
On January 13, we got a surprise, and found out that we are pregnant with baby #2! We are really excited and happy for this new adventure that is upon our little family! Baby is due the first part of September, though, I am hoping the doctor will induce me before the due date. We will see tho.
Who needs a blanket when you have large stuffed animals. Haha. Can you see the baby?
Shailee really likes blanket forts, and I admit I don't build them for her as much as she would like. We need better chairs and blankets, or just better fort building skills in order to do that. But she has lots of fun when we do build them!
We went for a walk one day when it was really nice outside. On our walk, we saw some horses. I stopped and this horse walked right up to the fence. Shailee loved that! She loves horses, and can say the name and sound of the animal. She is so smart!
The above pictures are on January 30, Shailee's birthday! I can't believe she is two years old already!
We held her birthday party on February 1 up in Idaho. We had lots of fun, and she got spoiled!
Shailee and dad.
My friend Ila's son, Desmund.
My friend Sam's son, Bennett.
Opening presents, Desmund was such a big helper!
Family in front of Shailee's birthday cake. Wes and I, but mostly Wes, made the pig cake pops the night before. They struggled staying up and fell in their rice krispie hay bails lol.
Blowing out the candles.
This is the shirt we put Shailee in when we told our parents our good news.
Just a little Valentine's Day shoot...will have another post with just those pictures on it.
I bought her some headbands, and was surprised that she actually keeps them in. We had to take a picture and send to daddy while he was at work.
On March 4, it was National Pancake Day at IHOP. Shailee and I jumped on that opportunity and went and had breakfast there. She really enjoyed her pancakes!
A little out of order, but this was March 1. The Home DePot had a free kids workshop the first Saturday of every month. This one, they were building a trojan horse piggy bank. Here, daddy and Shailee are showing off their handywork. So fun, and so cute!
Well that about sums up what has been going on with us as of late. Next post will be those Valentine's Day and 2 year pictures. Till then, later days!
