Sheesh, I swear I just get this updated, blink my eyes, and 3 months have gone by. But this time when I say I am going to try and be better about updating, I mean it. I am starting a new thing, and have set aside some time each week to update the blog. It will be on my fridge to remind me each week! So here is to hoping it really works, and I get more than 1 post a month. Or at least one a month lol.
To start off with, Easter! I know, that was a long time ago, but I wanted to update on that as well. For Easter, we headed up to Idaho. We stayed with Troy and Suzanne, and actually got Shailee to sleep in her pack-n-play and not with mommy and daddy. :) We snuck into her room Easter morning to wake her up, and she didn't hear us, like she usually does. So I snapped this sweet picture of her sleeping.
She is just so precious, and we love her very much!
The only way we got a picture of Shailee and her Easter basket. We only took a video of it, so I just saved this still frame from the video. Inside her basket she got: a new Easter dress (I wish I would have gotten a picture of it), a couple pairs of pants, a shirt, a ball, a couple books, an etchasketch, and two stuffed bunnies. One book and one bunny came from another Easter basket sent in the mail to her from Grandma Cheri and her Aunt Brynlee and Uncles Braxtyn and Brody.
Shailee had lots of fun playing on Grandma and Grandpa's stairs. At this point she could only go up, and it was hard! She made sure you knew of her frustration climbing up these stairs, lol. Again, it was a video so I saved this still frame.
I can't take credit for this photo. Jamie (Wes's sister and my sister-in-law) took this one. She captured Shailee perfectly, this is who she is! Thanks Jamie, hope you don't mind I "stole" this picture off of facebook. :)
The grandparents wanted a picture with all the grandkids with them. Wes and I stayed inside while this was going on (in hopes that Shailee would behave better if she didn't see us, and it worked!) Tyson took these pictures on Wes's phone for us. Grandma is holding Shailee, Grandpa is holding Titus (Sarah and Tyson's second) and Wade (Jamie and Kevin's) and Vinny is standing next to Grandpa. Easter was also Wade's blessing and Kevin did an excellent job!
Enjoy these next few pictures. Yes, Shailee has her Ducky and he always goes with her everywhere!
This picture was also taken by Jamie. She has such an amazing talent! Thanks for capturing our fun moments!
This was at Shailee's 15 month appointment, she had fun looking at the books while we waited for the doctor. She did really good, better than last time that is for sure. Course we didn't have to wait a good 45+ minutes for him to come into the room. She started crying when he touched her and got in her bubble lol, and of course when she got her shots. Here are her stats from this appointment.
Weight: 25 pounds 12 ounces (90%)
Length: 31.25 inches (75%)
Head Circ: 18.75 inches (85%)
Shailee is a healthy, growing girl!
I am not sure when this was, but we had a nice day one day and we decided to go play outside! Shailee loves being outdoors, and so when we can, we get out and let her do her thing. She wanted to sit in the hammock with me on this day, so I enjoyed her snuggles and our conversation we had!
When we moved into the house, the previous owners left a lot of yard stuff for us out in the shed. This treasure was amongst them. Shailee likes to walk on it, and I don't think learning to jump is far off, lol. I have always wanted a trampoline, and even told Wes when we get a house, we have to get one. Well, I got lucky and got both, without having to pay $200+ for a new trampoline.
The Saturday before Mother's Day (May 11) USU Botannical Gardens held a baby animals days. These gardens are located somewhere near Kaysville, so not too far for us to drive. Shailee had the most interest in the ducks and chickens. We visited bunnies, horses, cows, sheep, etc. She learned that the sheep says BAA while we were here so that was fun!
Another picture of the duck, she wanted to touch it's eye lol.
Before we went to baby animal days, we took some updated family pictures. This was my Mother's Day gift from Wes! Enjoy the pictures! Some are good, some are more candid, and some we are trying to get Shailee to look at the camera and smile lol. Thanks for coming up that weekend Nana and Papa, we had lots of fun! I wish we had gotten pictures of you guys too that we could add here. Thanks also for taking the pictures mom!
This was Mother's Day. We got in the car and headed down to Vegas/California for the week! :) Okay, before you get too jealous, we only went because Wes's work practically paid for it. Again, before you get too jealous, it was because he had job training in Cali, so we added a couple days to it and a couple days after his training and made a vacation out of it. So this picture was just getting started!
She feel asleep. I know you can't really see it in this picture, but her tongue was stuck to the roof of her mouth and we thought it was kind of funny lol.
One of our stops on the way was in this town called Scippio and at this gas station they had a free petting zoo! These little goats (I think they were babies) were my favorite, and Shailee's too maybe.
This is an ostrich. They also had chickens, roosters, emus, and believe it or not, a zebra. Sadly I didn't get a picture of the zebra because it was back in it's pen the whole time, except for when we were driving off! :)
We finally made it to Vegas, settled into our hotel, and have eaten by this time. We decided to walk around and go see the Bellagio fountains. Shailee thought they were interesting and she had a lot of fun walking around, being pushed in the stroller and watching the people, lights, and water.
Wes took this picture. Love the panoramic setting on my phone!
This was inside the Bellagio at their Botannical Gardens. They had a big swan in there and Shailee kept calling it a duck. So cute!

This was day one at the hotel in Cali. We had just dropped Wes off for his training, came back, and within a half hour or so she had fallen asleep in my lap. She didn't nap very long here, and I think it was because it was light, the TV was on, and she wasn't laying down flat. (The next day, when she started getting tired and acting like she needed a nap, I went in the room, drew the curtains, turned on her fan, turned the TV down, sat my entertainment next to my pillow, and layed Shailee down and she napped for 3 hours!) This day, Shailee and I had an adventure at the mall, which was a short drive down from the hotel. Wes ended up getting a ride home with someone who was also staying at our hotel and doing the training as well. Which ended up working out, because 5 minutes before I needed to have left, Shailee feel asleep on me again, and was still sleeping when Wes got back.

This the same night as the above picture. This hotel didn't have a tub, so in order for Shailee to have a bath was for her to shower with one of us. This night, I was finishing up, and she had fallen asleep on daddy before I was done and out. She had had a long day and was tired. Oh! Forgot to mention, we went swimming in the hotel swimming pool. It took Shailee a while to get used to the "heated" pool, but after she did, we think she enjoyed it! She loved the hot tub tho, and when the jets were going, it made bubbles, and she loved that!
On Wednesday (day 2 in Cali), May 15th, Wes and I celebrated 3 years of marriage! Happy anniversary babe, I love you!
This was my quick job at decorating. I had like 30 minutes to get this done. Shailee and I took a walk across the street to the dollar store to get a few decorations, candy, and gag gifts before we had to go get Wes from his LAST day of job training.
The balloons Shailee and I blew up for Wes. In the green gift bag, I have a sodoku book, a rubiks cube, sunflower seeds, peanut butter cups, pretzel m&m's, and a card. It was a quick little gift for the both of us!
In Downey, California they have the oldest working McDonald's, so after Shailee and I picked Wes up, we headed over there to check it out. It was pretty cool. They even had a little museum about it. So of course we had to check it out! This is the front of it.
In case you can't read it this says: These are the original doors from the first "Hamburger University" which was located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Shailee and dad.
This is a book shelf full of some of the happy meal toys. (I think lol)
This was a desk that I assume was the managers.
Check out these old cash registers!
Here is the side view of it as well as the sign. When we first saw the sign, we were a little confused as it wasn't the double arches. In this picture, you can see where they got the double arches from. It was kind of cool to go there and see how far things have come! They had a sign they told you how much things cost back then and how much they are now. Here is what it said:
Our 95 cent hamburgr is better value today than it was in 1955 when it was 15 cents!
In 1955...
1. Gas cost 20 cents per gallon
2. A loaf of bread was 18 cents
3. A house cost $10, 950
4. A postage stamp was 3 cents
5. Ground beef was 19 cents
6. McDonald's hamburger was 15 cents
Today...
1. gas is $2.50 per gallon
2. That bread is $2.75 now
3. That house now costs $400,000
4. Stamp is now 42 cents
5. Ground beef is now $2.25
6. McDonald's now is 95 cents
1. That is 12.5 times 1955 price
2. That is 15 times 1955 price
3. That is 36 times 1955 price
4. That is 14 times 1955 price
5. That is 12 times 1955 price
6. That is only 6 times 1955 price
Obviously this was done a while ago, because if gas is still $2.50 a gallon, I'd like to know where lol. It was fun tho.
We took Shailee to Downtown Disney the same day/night. We took her to Build-A-Bear Workshop. She couldn't choose. We picked out this dog, whom we name WoofWoof for her. Thinking about it now, I wish I had taken a picture of the dog, well one that you could see it, but I didn't think about that lol. Just know she had a blast in there and continues to hug this sweet puppy of hers!
Here is one picture when we were trying to decide which one to get her.
In Downtown Disney they have a big Lego Shop where they have sculptures built out of Lego's. Here is Shailee and Wes in front of the Hulk.
Shailee and I in front of Beauty and the Beast. This one was popular and it took a while to get up there, and when we finally did, people were still just coming up to it to see it and get pictures lol.
This was the morning we checked out of the California hotel. We found this luggage cart and brought it up to bring all of our stuff down in one trip. Shailee climbed up on it and had fun playing.
The day we checked out of the hotel in Cali, we went to Sea World in San Diego. We also stayed one more night in Cali but in San Diego lol. Shailee had fun watching the whales and dolphins! She was a trooper. She feel asleep as we were headed out and stopped in a gift shop to get Shailee a present for her first trip to Sea World. I got her a stuffed whale with a little hoodie on it that said Sea World!
This kept her entertained for about 15 minutes. They have an under ground viewing where you can go and see these magnificient animals swimming around. They just circled in the tank and rotated around in front of us every minute or so. We stayed one more night in Vegas on the way back home, but we were all so worn out that we just checked in, got dinner, and went to bed shortly after. So we don't have pictures from that because we were done lol.
Shailee and daddy have figured out that two of her rings can fit on her arm. After Wes showed her this, she now does it on her own! It is so cute, and amazing how quickly she learns things!
This is the result of not mowing your lawn for two weeks. About once around, Wes had to dump the bag. This mowing chore took Wes about twice as long as it usually does. Needless to say, Wes won't be taking a week off again lol. It was like a jungle out there! The birds would land in our lawn and you couldn't see them until they flew away again lol.
Last weekend (May 25-27) Troy and Suzanne came up for a visit. We went to the zoo (sorry no pictures) and visited cousins (again, no pictures...next time!) and to a park here in Layton that has a river and lots of birds. We took some old bread and fed the ducks. There was a swan there and everytime it wanted another piece of bread, it would honk at us! Shailee enjoyed watching them while the rest of us fed them and enjoyed being outdoors.
We enjoyed having you guys visit and play with us! Shailee had lots of fun, and knows you more and better than before! Thanks for coming up, and we look forward to when we can have you up again!
